STRUCTURE OF THE PROJECT
| MATLAS Project coordination (WUT) |
| Activity 1 – task coordinator: Warsaw University of Technology |
| Develop diagnostic methods for the analysis of artwork made out of metal (alloy), containing metal in superficial layers, or top layers of metal, which will result in the safer use of laser restoration technology for metal cleaning |
- Development of diagnostic methods of the materials science – the basic scientific purpose of the project (participation in the works: WUT, MUT, AFA, NIKU)
- Conducting comparative and supplementary research using laser, optoelectronic and physicochemical methods (participation in the works: WUT, MUT, AFA, NIKU)
| Activity 2 – task coordinator: Military University of Technology |
| Develop a laser system that will generate pulses of a controlled shape and time duration and implement it in a target laser renovation technology |
- Development of the sub-assemblies and the laser system (participation in the works: MUT, AFA)
- Development of the technology for laser renovation of the works of art (participation in the works: MUT, AFA, NIKU)
| Activity 3 – task coordinator: Academy of Fine Arts |
| Analyses of any physical phenomena occurring during and after laser pulse and object interaction, based on a database which will be updated on a daily basis |
- A teamwork consisting in the verification of the laser cleaning results with the participation of experienced specialists in the area of the materials engineering, laser techniques, as well as art restorers specialising in the renovation of metal and metallic objects
- Development and launching of a database containing the project results, data obtained from the project partners, as well as the literature. It should make it possible for the art restorers to choose appropriate methods of the surface diagnostics and renovation conditions (participation in the works: WUT, MUT, AFA, NIKU)
| Activity 4 – task coordinator: Warsaw University of Technology |
Presentation of current and final results of the project at thematic conferences, meetings and exhibition, as well as on internet pages of the project participants (participation in the works: WUT, AFA, MUT, NIKU)
| Activity 5 – task coordinator: Warsaw University of Technology |
Dissemination of the results and incorporation of acquired konwledge in the educational programs of students attending the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art of AFA and Faculties of Mat. Sc. in WUT and MUT (participation in the works: WUT, AFA, MUT)
| Activity 6 – task coordinator: Warsaw University of Technology |
Purchase of equipment(participation in the works: WUT, AFA, MUT)
| Activity 7 – task coordinator: Warsaw University of Technology |
